Mount Augustine Volcano is a 8-11Km island located in the Lower Cook Inlet, Kamishak Bay, approximately 70 miles west of Homer, Alaska. On January 11, 2006 the volcano came alive with an explosive eruption. On January 25, 2006 I went up in a small plane to fly as near as possible and circle the volcano to aerial photograph this incredible event. Steam of gases and ash spew from the volcano summit.
